The problem
Dispatch was run from a whiteboard and a phone. Nobody could answer where a consignment was without calling the driver, and customers called the office to find out.
What we did
- 01A driver app that works with the phone in a pocket: big targets, few taps, and no typing while moving.
- 02The dispatch board rebuilt around the one question the team asks all day — what is late, and who can take it.
- 03Customer tracking links sent by SMS, which removed most of the calls to the office within a month.
- 04Fuel, trip and maintenance records tied to the same vehicle, so the cost per route finally had a number.
